I am hungry, sad that K-chicken closes at 6pm, mad but also here is what I have for my dissertation so far

Name of Project

Questions Driving Project

How can I use craft materials to create an epic mid-battle scene that shows the emotions of wrath, honour, fear and hope?

What was my aim?

My aim for this project was to create an epic mid-battle scene

What did I want to find out?

I wanted to find out if I could create a physical piece of media that I could display in a unique way. This project was a challenge to myself, I wanted to challenge my ability to create an environment and make it in a physical space.

What did I discover?

I discovered that Air-Dry Clay is harder than I thought to use. Also that environments really aren’t my thing at all, I am more into figure drawing and sculpting.

What did I want to create?

I wanted to create an epic mid-battle scene that portrayed the emotions of wrath, honour, fear and hope.

What skills, methodologies and techniques did I want to utilize?

I wanted to gain new skills in sculpture. While I would have liked to have done this using better clay, such as a type that is baked in a kiln.

My methodologies changed when I found that I couldn’t work with air dry clay for longer than two days.

Does my project fit into a larger project?

Later on this year I will be using this sculpture in my composition class.

Does it serve to push my development as a practitioner?

Experimenting with clay and sculpture has pushed the materials in which I am able to use to express and create my art.

How was it important to my professional development?

This project was important to my professional development because it meant that I was able to

What was the outcome of my project?

Did I successfully resolve my question?

What did I learn through this project?

A World on Fire

This year I asked myself, how can I use craft materials to create an epic mid-battle scene that shows the emotions of wrath, honor, fear and hope? This project was created to push my artist abilities and knowledge of working with materials into a new direction.

I wanted to find out what skills were involved in creating a physical piece of artwork that could convey emotions. How could I display emotions in a unique way? It was important for me to find out if I could create a physical piece of media that I could display in a unique way. This project was a challenge to myself, I wanted to challenge my ability to create an environment and make it in a physical space.

Throughout the process of creating A World on Fire I discovered that working with environments as my sculpting subject was not enjoyable to me. The materials I worked with were interesting, yet frustrating to use. Using Air-Dry clay for this project was a hassle from the start, but I chose to use this as it was the cheaper alternative to buy in bulk.

I ran into many problems during this projectthe biggest one being the lack of motivation. Depression struck me hard during lock down, as such my ability to find a way to work around things.

I wanted to create an epic mid-battle scene that I could use to challenge my ability in creating a physical piece of artwork. Creating an environmental based scene that can also convey specific emotion was something I wanted to explore
