Scene and Narrative

The way this scene is set up, with the news going on about stolen plutonium and the reveal of it underneath the bed, the amount of clocks and invention, it shows that the narrative is most likely going to be sci-fi and probably weird.

Mise-en-Scene

The amount of timers, clocks and automated machinery gives the impression the the Doc is a perhaps obsessed with time and efficiency. Or perhaps that his time management isn't very good and he needs some help with that.

But along with these presumptions, the idea of a mentally unstable character is very prominent.

The way that Marty interacts with everything, suggests that this is something he does a lot, but when he amps everything connected to the speaker, this suggests he doesn't think everything through, because it is obvious that it was going to cause some damage.

Camera Work, Editing and Sound

Having a quiet title sequence is interesting, often you would have some kind of exciting theme song, but instead we are given the ticking of clocks. With the film title, Back to the future, it heavily suggests some very heavy time related narrative.

Showing small parts of the room, starting with seemingly organised clockworks to the chaotic mess at the end, is quite cool, as it gives the audience a sense of how the characters perhaps interact with each-other. As at the start we are introduced to a dog, Einstein and the Doc, who we haven't seen yet. Then there is also the boy at the start(Marty). We can see character interactions before they actually happen.
